Tóth (Hungary), Michiel Snijders (the Netherlands) and Sorin Botoşeneanu (Romania) – student films, Romanian short films and Balkanimation.

Erik zal te gast zijn op het Cinanima festival in Espinho, Portugal van 9 – 15 November. Daarna zal hij Etiuda & Anima in Krakow, Poland bezoeken, van 30 November – 4 December. Op beide festivals wordt the Phantom vertoond in competitie.
Ik zie er naar uit en hoop jullie daar te ontmoeten!

PHANTOM wordt vertoond op het 16e Festival Of Animated Film in Stuttgart, in de internationale competitie.
De DVD van de PHANTOM OF THE CINEMA is er! De film wordt geintroduceerd door de regisseur. Wanneer je alles wilt weten over de complexiteiten en geheimen achter het Phantom-verhaal kan je naar het commentaar van de regisseur luisteren. THE PHANTOM, a movie about a film show gone wrong, is now showing in different theaters, on different festivals in different countries. I’ve been visiting several of these screenings. All of them had a problem of some sort. I have never seen so many failed attempts to project a movie. There were problems with the sound, they forgot to dim the lights, they cut off the epilogue scene, the film was projected much to big so all action happened off screen, it was projected with the wrong aspect ratio, the operator even knocked over the projector one time. I am not lying! THE PHANTOM OF THE CINEMA is jinxed. Beware!
Ik ben klaar met werken aan de Phantom DVD. Er staan een aantal prachtige special features op en hij zal spoedig verkrijgbaar zijn. Deze site zal ook gevuld worden met nog meer extra’s. (Ik ben een beetje druk met andere films en TV-series, maar ik beloof binnen kort wat moois up te loaden!)
Op het HAFF is de publieksprijs Nederlandse Animatie 2008 uitgereikt aan Big Buck Bunny (geproduceerd door het Blender Institute). Tweede en derde eindigden The Phantom Of The Cinema en The Seven Brothers (Paul en Kaj Driessen).
Vandaag kreeg ik te horen dat THE PHANTOM OF THE CINEMA verkozen is als Nederlandse inzending voor de Oscars. Ik besef mij terdege dat dit nog geen overwinning is. Eerst nog genomineerd worden (22 januari 2009) en dan pas de Oscar winnen (22 februari 2009). Als alles goed gaat. Stel je voor dat alles alles goed gaat..!
De PHANTOM OF THE CINEMA gaat spoedig in première. Ook zal hij te zien zijn op het Holland Animation Film Festival en het Nederlands Filmfestival.
